In March of last year, when our staff members were calling patients who were most at risk for COVID-19 complications, one patient in particular was enormously relieved to hear from us. “I assumed you were closed,” she said. “I had no idea where I was going to get my medication.” Our staff member was so glad to tell her we were not only open, but committed to making sure her care was uninterrupted.
CrossOver’s pharmacy team kept that promise. We did not close our doors a single day, and in FY20, we provided 30,213 prescriptions to our patients and to patients from six other safety net providers in the area. CrossOver’s is the only on-site pharmacy operated by a charitable clinic in the Richmond area.
Our volunteers are a key part of our team, says Jamesha Pettis, medications program manager at CrossOver. “They are always here when we need them, willing to cover extra shifts when needed. They answer patients’ questions about their medications and make sure patients can pick up their medication when it’s convenient for them.
“All of these volunteers have worked with me through the whole pandemic,” she adds. “They’re really amazing.”
