CrossOver Participates in Citywide Push HIV & Syphilis Testing

HIV and Syphilis Testing Partnership Headed by Fan Free Clinic is Passionate about the upcoming “Citywide PUSH”!

Testing for HIV and Syphilis will be conducted at convenient locations around the city beginning at Noon on Friday, July 17th and continue until midnight.  The call to action is “Take the test, take control!”

Out of every 5 Virginians newly infected with HIV, 4 were male, 3 were black, 3 were MSM (Men who have Sex with men) and 2 were 13-29 years old.  Due to new cases of HIV in Richmond continuing to rise, a collection of community partners have pulled together as one for the second time to supply HIV and Syphilis testing for those of the Greater Richmond area.  The collaboration has created an event, named “Citywide PUSH (Partners Unlocking Syphilis and HIV)”.

The collaboration of community partners includes: Crossover Ministry, Daily Planet, Fan Free Clinic, Fielden's (A Private Club), Gay Community Center of Richmond, Ginter Park United Methodist Church, Manterfly Youth Development, Minority Health Consortium, Richmond Behavioral Health Authority, Richmond City Health District,  ROSMY, St. Paul’s Baptist Church Southside Campus, and Virginia Department of Health: Division of Disease Prevention.

This synchronized reaction is intended to raise awareness and promote risk reduction behaviors, heightening awareness of HIV and Syphilis prevention.
“Our goal is simple; raise awareness, provide people with testing and provide treatment resources,” stated Susan Tellier, HIV Testing Services Coordinator of Fan Free Clinic.
